Inter Milan will hold another round of contract extension talks with representatives of Denzel Dumfries after the Netherlands’ EURO 2024 clash with Romania.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com.

Dumfries looks to be the one regular starter in Inter’s squad who is at a crossroads this summer in terms of his future.

The 28-year-old’s current contract with the Nerazzurri runs out at the end of next June.

Dumfries is still on the same four-year deal that he signed when he joined Inter from PSV in the summer of 2021.

Therefore, the situation is fairly clear. If Dumfries does not sign a new deal, then he could leave Inter on a free transfer at the end of next season.

For this reason, Inter’s aim is to tie the Dutchman down on a new deal – or else sell him this summer, cashing in while they have the chance.

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on adding Dumfries to their ranks for the Champions League next season.

Inter To Hold Dumfries Contract Talks After Netherlands Vs Romania EURO 2024 Clash

Inter have reportedly made Dumfries a take-it-or-leave it contract offer.

The Nerazzurri are ready to offer the 28-year-old a contract worth around €4 million net per season in terms of wages.

Dumfries and his representatives, by contrast, are asking for wages of €5 million net per season.

That has naturally been the sticking point in talks thus far.

The negotiations between Inter and Dumfries’s representatives have gone on for a few months without reaching a clear resolution one way or the other.

But time is running out for Inter to resolve the 28-year-old’s future.

At the moment, however, Dumfries is at the Euros with the Netherlands.

Therefore, the Dutchman is trying to avoid distractions. He is currently preparing to face Romania in the round of sixteen in the competition.

But after that match, Calciomercato.com reports, Inter will hold another round of talks with Dumfries’s representatives.

The Nerazzurri will try to get the lay of the land now that the summer transfer window is well underway.
