Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta says that the Nerazzurri are “waiting for the decision” of midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu regarding his future.
Marotta spoke on TRT Sport, via FCInterNews, after Inter learned their Champions League league phase draw.
Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu remains an Inter player at the start of this season.
The Turkish international is set to go into his fifth season as a Nerazzurri player. He joined the club on a free transfer from city rivals AC Milan in the summer of 2021.
However, that certainly does not mean that there were not transfer rumours surrounding Calhanoglu.
For several weeks, there was a long transfer saga linking the 31-year-old to Galatasaray.
However, in the end the Turkish champions did not offer anywhere near what Inter would have wanted for Calhanoglu.
Nevertheless, the former Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder’s contract runs out at the end of June 2027. Therefore, in one year’s time Inter are certainly going to have a decision to make regarding the midfielder.

Inter President Marotta fielded a question about situation of Calhanoglu at the club. “The situation is that he has to decide what to do.”
“We’re still waiting for his decision,” the Nerazzurri President added.
“He’s had a brilliant experience here with us,” Marotta said of Calhanoglu. “And thanks to his contributions and his experience, we’ve had four great years.”
“And we’ll continue to do so,” he added.”Because his contribution will be important this year.”
Then, Marotta said that Inter’s league phase “will be a tough group, as with all groups in this new Champions League format.”
Inter will take on the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, and Atletico Madrid among others.
Inter President Marotta insisted that “the important thing is that we take on our opponents in the best physical and psychological shape.”
