Lamine Yamal’s stunning performance against Inter Milan has undoubtedly cemented his place among football’s elite.
The young forward has displayed remarkable maturity and skill, stepping up when Barcelona needed him most during their 3-3 draw in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.
His brilliant goal, where he skillfully bypassed Marcus Thuram and Henrikh Mkhitaryan before finishing with a precise strike past Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer, demonstrated his exceptional talent.
On top of that, Yamal hit the woodwork twice, once with the keeper’s intervention, keeping Barça from snatching a crucial victory, and once with a lob attempt.
Yamal’s performance sparked widespread admiration, and many in the football world were quick to praise the Barcelona wonderkid. However, not everyone shared in the euphoria.

Inter’s Marcus Thuram, when asked if Yamal was the best player in the world, responded with a firm “no,” before quickly clarifying, “The best player in the world is French, and the second is too.”
Thuram, known for his outspoken nature, went on to name former Barcelona and current PSG forward Ousmane Dembele as his top pick, followed by Kylian Mbappe, both of whom he considers the world’s best.
“They are Ousmane Dembele (first) and Kylian Mbappe (second),” he said.
Despite this, Thuram was quick to acknowledge Yamal’s talent, ranking him third behind the two French superstars, saying, “After the two of them comes Lamine Yamal.”
While Thuram’s response may have dampened some of the praise surrounding the young prodigy, his admission that Yamal is among the world’s top players only further solidifies the excitement surrounding the Barcelona forward.
As the youngest player to make such an impact in a Champions League semi-final, Yamal’s future looks incredibly bright.
His potential is undeniable, and the world will be watching closely as he continues to develop into one of football’s next great stars.
