Lautaro Martinez will miss Inter Milan’s Serie A clash with Lazio this weekend.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is currently recovering from a muscle problem.

The Argentine suffered an elongation in his left thigh flexor muscles during the first leg of Inter’s Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.

Martinez did rush back to fitness for the second leg. He was always going to do absolutely everything to play in a season-defining match such as that.

And Martinez did certainly did have an impact. The Nerazzurri captain scored his team’s first goal, and then won the penalty for their second.

However, Martinez eventually had to come off as a substitute during the second half.

Lautaro Martinez’s muscle problem is not necessarily a serious one. However, it has been a nagging issue resulting from the number of matches he has played in recent weeks.

Whilst it was important for the 27-year-old to feature in the second leg against Barcelona, it also exacerbated his thigh issue.

Therefore, the priority now is for Lautaro Martinez to rest up and recover.

Clearly, Inter will want their captain at his best for the end of the month. They take on Paris Saint-Germain on May 31st in Munich.

Accordingly, Martinez will not play against Lazio this Sunday evening.

The Argentine is still recovering from his thigh problem.

According to the Gazzetta, the target is now for Martinez to return to the pitch in Inter’s final league match of the season. That will be away to Como.
