One Chelsea insider has now named SIX potential Christopher Nkunku replacements as the club ponder a potential sale of the attacker.
Nkunku could now leave Chelsea this month, with clubs being interested. It sounds like he will have to physically ask to go though, and he has not done that yet.
However, IF he does end up asking to leave then Chelsea are not going to stand in his way if a decent offer comes in. And as a result, they are already looking at potential replacements as clubs do.
Kolo Muani of PSG was actually mentioned as one potential option, even if others have thrown that one out as not being true.
Our writer, Chelsea insider Simon Phillips, has written a big article about all of the above and what is actually happening here, on his Substack site this morning. He also names six replacements Chelsea could go for.
Nkunku could be off this month
Phillips writes in his article:
‘Liam Delap remains the real one to watch and I suspect we would go back to Ipswich to test their reserve on him again this month, IF Nkunku does go.
‘And although I reported earlier this week that there is no current expectation of Chelsea returning for Evan Ferguson again due to concerns about his injuries, a big part of me now, based on fresh info from sources, is not ruling out a move for him on loan with an option to buy this month, again, if Nkunku goes.
‘Dusan Vlahovic has historic interest from Chelsea under our previous owners as well as these owners, and he would be available this month on a potential loan to buy deal too. Sources have not yet heard anything fresh on Vlahovic, but sources have said that we were ‘quite close’ to signing him under Mauricio Pochettino. So this could be one to watch.
‘The Jhon Duran interest is still there too but one source has suggested that he thinks that ship might have sailed now and does not see Aston Villa selling and if they do, the fee would be massive.
‘There has been interest in Kolo Muani from PSG, so that is another situation to keep an eye on even if Chelsea briefings have thrown that under the rug and also, our sources have not even heard about any recent interest. But we’ll see.
‘One other wildcard is Darwin Nunez at Liverpool. Not that our sources are hearing anything recent, but remember, Chelsea DID try and sign him recently, as we reported at the time.’
