Inter will be without Hakan Calhanoglu for multiple games, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan will sit out one or two more tilts, and their injuries don’t help the negotiation with Roma regarding Davide Frattesi. The Turk suffered a calf problem while he was rehabbing a thigh one. He strained the soleus muscle in his right leg and will be on the mend for two or three weeks, Tuttomercatoweb reports.
Instead, his teammate, who was unavailable against Venezia already, has been diagnosed with a right adductor pull and is day-to-day. He could be back versus Empoli later in the week or in the ensuing Champions League clash.
Inter losing Calhanoglu and Mkhitaryan simultaneously will inevitably affect the talks concerning Frattesi, for whom Roma are the only team really in the picture at this stage. However, the Giallorossi won’t offer €45M as demanded. They value him €30M plus add-ons.
The teams are distant from reaching an agreement. The unsettled midfielder is closer to staying than to departing for now. The Nerazzurri aren’t actively pursuing anybody for January. The ex-Sassuolo ace, Kristjan Asllani, and Piotr Zielinski will pick up the slack along with linchpin Nicolò Barella.
The timing of the absences isn’t great for the unsettled star, and perhaps the increased playing time will put him at ease, although just temporarily. Their January schedule is busy but not brutal opposition-wise. They should be able to cope, although they are one ailment away from being in dire straits at the position.
