An early injury in pre-season has prevented Eduardo Camavinga from making his first appearance in 2024-25, and the player has been continuously working hard behind the scenes to enable a quick return.

Having suffered a knee injury in training before the UEFA Super Cup, the Frenchman began training on the grass last week in what came as big news around his situation.

MARCA now bring to light another update which will come as music to the ears of Carlo Ancelotti’s camp.

Return not far

As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Camavinga has been training alone on the grasses of Valdebebas over the past week but is finally ready to take the next big step in his recovery.

Tomorrow, he will train with the group for the first time after his injury and his sensations during the same will dictate his return.

If the Frenchman is able to complete the training without any pain or discomfort, Carlo Ancelotti plans to field him against Atletico Madrid this weekend for the all-important derby.

With Kylian Mbappe out injured for three weeks, the Italian tactician is seriously considering a tactical tweak with a reversion to a 4-4-2 setup.

Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde are the three guaranteed starters, and Camavinga can be the fourth member to make the cut should he recover in time.

Else, the manager’s preference will likely be Luka Modric given his experience but Arda Guler also makes a strong case to start.

With Camavinga’s return now just around the corner, one can expect the youngster to rack up minutes quickly and regain his lost prominence at the club. After all, Ancelotti has suffered from a dire shortage of resources in the department in recent weeks.
