Long have Manchester United been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion frontman Evan Ferguson, though their interest has yet to materialise with an official approach.
That could be about to change this winter, however.
Indeed, The Telegraph has revealed today that Brighton have made Ferguson available for a mid-season loan move due to his reduced game time under Fabian Hurzeler. The likes of Danny Welbeck, Joao Pedro and Georginio Rutter all rank above the Irishman in the pecking order, which has seen him limited to only one Premier League start in the opening 12 matches.
His lengthiest cameo off the bench thus far came in a 17-minute appearance against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, coinciding with his first goal of the season as the sides were held to a 2-2 draw at the Amex. Outside of the clash, Ferguson’s five other substitute outings have all been under 10 minutes, prompting the Brighton board to intervene and push for a January loan.

Whether or not United would test the waters by establishing their interest remains to be seen, but it’s clear to see that Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee need something of a kick up the backside to put an end to their stagnant, lacklustre form.
Ferguson, 20, is ‘likely’ to stay in the Premier League rather than drop down to a Championship club, and there’s no doubt he’ll have a host of suitors hitting up his entourage to try and add him to their ranks for the second half of 2024/2025.
The Bohemians graduate boasts 13 goals and two assists in his 54 top-flight matches since making his senior bow and is said to be chomping at the bit to add to his tally after seeing his 2023/2024 season cut short due to injury.
