Manchester United have joined Newcastle United in pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain outcast Randal Kolo Muani.
Indeed, the Red Devils have intensified their forward search on the same day they’ve green-lit Marcus Rashford’s imminent move to Barcelona. However, the fact that they sanctioned the deal on an initial loan basis means they’re still in the same predicament in regards to raising transfer funds.
United have had to accept defeat in their respective pursuits of both Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres this summer, who opted to join Chelsea and Arsenal, respectively. Newcastle have also been in a similar boat of suffering rejections, having missed out on first-choice targets Bryan Mbeumo – a soon-to-be Red – and Hugo Ekitike.
Now, the two sides could go head-to-head in trying to sign one available centre-forward.

Muani is a player who’s found himself on United’s shortlist before, namely in the build-up to his PSG transfer in 2023. The Reds were thought to be considering a swoop following his stellar campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt, but ultimately landed on Rasmus Hojlund as their desired No.9 addition.
Yet, the French international’s tenure at the Parc des Princes has not panned out anywhere near the way he’d hoped it would; in his one-and-a-half seasons at Luis Enrique’s disposal, he has made only 23 starts in total across all competitions, including just 15 in Ligue 1.
As a result, Muani was sent on loan to Juventus midway through last term in hopes of reigniting his most prolific goalscoring form whilst also playing a more prominent role – and that he did.
Muani made 22 appearances for the Italian outfit during his temporary spell, three of which came at the Club World Cup. 19 of those outings were from the off, and he returned an impressive 10 goals and three assists.
Juventus have been desperate to keep hold of the 26-year-old since the culmination of his loan, although they’ve yet to reach an agreement with PSG, who are looking to offload their £77 million acquisition permanently.
