Despite coming back from 2-0 down, SV Werder were left empty-handed following their 4-2 defeat at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach. We've summed up all the post-match reaction to today's game.
Ole Werner, head coach: "The first goal threw us off balance a bit and we weren't able to play our game afterwards. That then changed after our first goal and we then managed to play well. The final 15 minutes before half time were all us. We then also started poorly into the second half, before later improving. Overall, we just made it too easy for our opponents. We didn't defend well and were chasing after them. Conceding four times is just too much, while we also failed to make the most of our own chances."
Marco Friedl, captain: "We started poorly and conceded far too easily. In the lead up to half time, we played well and managed to get back into the game. We came out of the break feeling motivated and then immediately conceded again. From that point on, we were left chasing again and didn't manage to find our way back again. On a personal level, it was great to be back on the pitch. The medical team deserves a lot of credit for making this possible ahead of the international break already. I now have some time during the international break to work on getting back to full fitness in order to play the full 90 minutes against Kiel.

Romano Schmid: "I can't explain it and it's really frustrating to see how we started into the game. We were able to fight our way back into it and had some really good chances. It's frustrating to then come back out for the second half and to concede immediately again. If we wanted to get them under control in the second half, then we should have had more bodies back defending and shouldn't have allowed them to counter-attack. We gave them up far too easily and the same goes for the goals we conceded."
Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football: "We didn't manage to find our way into the game in either the first or second half. We simply conceded too many goals. Conceding four times at home isn't good. If you do that, then you don't deserve to win. We showed strong spirit after the first two goals and managed to fight our way back and were putting them under pressure. But, we didn't get off to a good start in the second half. In the end, we made too many mistakes which resulted in us conceding."
