‘In contact’: Romano confirms one United player’s agent has been negotiating his exit for three months

As Manchester United hone in on their first two arrivals of the summer, the board are yet to bolster their transfer budget by sanctioning the exits of any senior players.

Since the second half of the 2023/2024 campaign, rumours surrounding Casemiro’s potential departure grew more rife by the week.

His performances last term were a significant drop-off in comparison to those the season prior, where he played an integral role at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s midfield and was well in the mix to be named United’s Player of the Season.

Yet, the experienced Brazilian now looks off the pace when up against such prolific Premier League opposition, and it’s reached the stage where he, at times, is detrimental to the side’s results while being outplayed by his teenage counterpart Kobbie Mainoo.

Given that Casemiro, 32, is the club’s highest earner on an extortionate £350,000 per week, you’d struggle to see many positives with him seeing out his contract at Old Trafford rather than cashing in while United still can and putting the money to better use elsewhere.

As such, that’s seemingly in line with INEOS’ approach, too. Fabrizio Romano has revealed there’s a ‘concrete possibility’ the five-time Champions League winner could be sold in the coming weeks.

His agents are ‘in contact’ with Saudi Pro League sides, which are likely the only suitors out there that’d be willing to meet Casemiro’s financial demands.
