The personal trainer of Noni Madueke has taken to Instagram to share of a photo of the pair after the winger was dropped for the defeat to Fulham.

The Blues slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge against their neighbours, in what was just their third league defeat of the season.

Cole Palmer’s 12th goal of the season had given Chelsea the lead but the Blues conceded two late goals, with the winner coming in the 95th minute.

With a few injuries the Blues lacked depth on the bench and the absence of Madueke was an interesting one as there had been no mention of any injury to the England international.

However, after the game Maresca confirmed he had been left out for what he described as a technical decision, although it’s subsequently transpired the 44-year-old wasn’t impressed with Madueke’s level in training.

This is the third time already this season Madueke has been dropped because of a lack of effort in training and it’s something the 22-year-old needs to sort out.

Renato Veiga was also left out for the same reasons and Maresca has made it very clear what the standard is and no matter who you are if you aren’t hitting it you will be dropped.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Chelsea were thinking of potentially moving Madueke on, although it’s been reported there are no plans to sell him in January.

However, in what could be interpreted as a dig at Maresca, Madueke’s personal trainer posted a picture on Friday of the pair together on Instagram with the caption “out here grafting.”

It’s not how hard Madueke works with his personal trainer that counts, it’s how hard he works when he’s at Cobham training, and it’s hard to understand why his levels have dropped three times already this season.

Hopefully Madueke has learnt after his third strike, because he’s been an important player for the Blues this season and with Mykhailo Mudryk sideline indefinitely, Madueke really let his team-mates down on Sunday.
