Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao has responded to transfer links with Liverpool this summer and the possibility of a reunion with former coach Arne Slot.

Paixao is not the first Feyenoord player to have been rumoured with a Liverpool switch in recent months following the arrival of Slot as Jurgen Klopp's successor.

Lutsharel Geertruida has been strongly linked and is currently at Euro 2024 with the Netherlands, while Slovakia defender David Hancko has also reportedly interested the Reds.

But a new name has seemingly emerged in the form of Brazilian attacker Paixao, who enjoyed a brilliant season under Slot last term.

The left winger, who can also feature on the right, scored 12 goals and provided four assists in all competitions and he has unsurprisingly caught the eye of Europe's top clubs.

While links with the Reds have been tentative, Paixao has admitted that he's aware of such rumours circulating.

IGOR PAIXAO ADMITS UNCERTAIN FUTURE

Speaking to Ge Globo in Brazil. the 24-year-old forward admitted that he isn't sure what the future holds for him in Rotterdam, revealing that plenty of people have been asking him about a potential Anfield move.

"I only see this on social media. [The fans] don’t want me to leave Feyenoord, but it’s not up to me," confessed Paixao. "Together with my business owners and board, we will decide the best path forward.

"I am listening and watching social media. Lots of people always tagging me and asking: are you going to Liverpool? I don’t know anything, I’m just waiting. But Dutch football is pretty cool. Intensity is the big difference.

"He [Slot] also helped me with my arrival, with my evolution, and I had the feeling of helping him. Good thing everything went well. He did an exceptional job with our cast.

"I just have to thank him and wish him success at Liverpool. He will be missed, but he has to keep working."

There are yet to be credible links between Liverpool and Paixao, but he is certainly a talented attacker that Slot appreciates having brought him to Feyenoord in 2022.

Liverpool are expected to make a move for a wide forward this summer, with Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon the name most reliably linked in recent days.
