Our former manager spent two years in the Celtic dugout winning five trophies during that period including a Treble in his second season.

Postecoglou has come under serious scrutiny from both the media and his own support ahead of his Tottenham’s visit to Ibrox with his side winning just one of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Yet to find a consistent run of form, Tottenham currently sit an underwhelming 11th position on 20 points after 15 matches in the English Premier League so far this season.

However, in the Europa League, Postecoglou’s North Londoners are on 10 points from five games, level on points with theRangers with Phillipe Clement’s men residing in eighth place, one spot above tonight’s visitors at Ibrox.

As Celtic boss, big Ange played four games at Ibrox, won one, drew one, and lost on two occasions. His solitary victory came in early April 2022 courtesy of Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers. Celtic won the game 2-1 which would prove to be a crucial three points on the road to reclaiming the title.

Now, Postecoglou will be aiming for a victory as manager at Ibrox this evening. In doing so, it would ease some of the media pressure whilst also putting his side in a favourable position of reaching top eight of the new 36-team Europa League format.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the match, the ex-Celtic gaffer said, “I’m looking forward to it. I had a great time up there in the two years I was there. Fair to say, Ibrox can be fairly intense and I’m sure we’ll feel that.”

“But it’s a great stadium to play football in. The atmosphere, European nights. Even when I was there, they did awfully well in Europe. The first year I was there they got to the Europa League final.”

“So you know how European nights, irrespective of their league form, they really rise for, so it’s a good challenge for us.”

Postecoglou added, “I’m also looking forward to being back in Glasgow and feeling the cold again and hopefully see some friendly faces among the others.”

Best of luck to Ange tonight on behalf of everyone on The Celtic Star.
