Last night, Paris Saint-Germain’s struggles in the Champions League continued when they lost 1-0 away to Bayern Munich. PSG have not won since their opening game in the league phase (1-0 against Girona FC) and currently sit outside the play-off spots with four points after five games.
Kim Min-jae (28) scored the winner for Bayern in the 38th minute when he capitalised on an error from Matvei Safonov (25). The Russian mishandled a routine corner, allowing the ball to drop to the ground where Kim could head it home.
The game went from bad to worse when Ousmane Dembélé was sent off in the 56th minute. Dembélé had picked up a yellow card in the first for dissent and collected his marching orders following a late tackle on Alphonso Davies (24).
Luis Enrique was furious in his postmatch comments, although he tried to deflect individual criticism from his squad, as he told Canal+, “The responsibility is global, it’s on the whole team, for good or bad things. We shouldn’t look for culprits. We shouldn’t look for heroes or villains.”
The manager continued, “There’s always this desire to look for someone to blame. If there’s someone to blame, it’s me. I’m responsible. There you go, you’ve found the culprit. From there, I accept all criticism.”
