It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Manuel Ugarte (23). Having quickly established himself as a first-choice option under Luis Enrique, his impact has diminished as the season has progressed, as has his presence on the pitch for Paris Saint-Germain.

Ugarte has slowly slipped out of Luis Enrique’s starting XI, especially in the big matches in the UEFA Champions League. That is owing to a perceived limited ability in possession and in terms of ball progression. His capabilities out of possession have not come into question but with the Uruguayan international playing a relatively peripheral role, is there a chance that he leaves PSG at the end of the season?

As previously reported by Fabrizio Romano, there isn’t a chance of him leaving on loan but perhaps Les Parisiens would be open to a sale, should the right offer present itself. As PSG celebrated their third successive Ligue 1 title on Sunday night, Ugarte responded to the exit rumours.

“Next season still at PSG? I hope so, I’d love to stay here. We will see what’s going to happen,” he told Prime Video Sport. His comments come amidst reported interest from Juventus and AC Milan.
