Following Celtic’s heavy 5-1 defeat to Ajax, Kuhn will not get to feature against the Hoops in Sunday’s final. However, he was there to greet some of his old teammates as they emerged from the tunnel to start the second half last night.

After completing a £16.5 million move to Como, the German winger now finds his new club staging a tournament featuring the Scottish champions, last season’s Eredivisie runners-up Ajax, and Saudi side Al Ahli.

Kuhn’s time at Celtic lasted only 18 months, but his impressive performances throughout most of last season secured an eye-watering transfer and delivered an almighty return on the £3.5 million the club invested in him back in January 2024.

Although the 25 year-old chose to seek a new challenge, he cherished his spell in Glasgow and thoroughly enjoyed playing under the guidance of Rodgers.

Speaking after Como’s 3-1 victory over Al Ahli on Wednesday evening via The National, Kuhn said: “He [Rodgers] is an amazing guy. We had some great times and good talks. Before I left, I went to see him in his office. I thanked him for everything he did for me. Now it’s a new chapter.”

“Was it a difficult decision to leave? Of course. I loved my time at Celtic. It’s an unbelievable club. It was difficult to leave, of course. I wasn’t there that long – it was 18 months. But everything happened quite fast and I enjoyed it.”

Kuhn added: “I loved my time there and think we had some really special moments. I think it turned out pretty well. That was the plan, to stay for probably two years, perform well and help the team and the club. I will be forever grateful for what Celtic did for me.”

Here’s the Nicolas Kuhn interview in full….well worth a listen.
