AC Milan forward Álvaro Morata turned heads back in the summer when he decided to up sticks and move from his native Spain to Italy just after winning the Euro as captain of his national team.
Now just months later he is returning to the Bernabéu, where he played in two stints between 2010 and 2014 then later in the 2016/17 season.
As per Cadena SER, Morata said ‘I don’t think things have changed much. But I’m aware of that and I expect them to boo me and everything. It’s normal.’
He then went on to emphasize the historic nature of AC Milan as a club, and pointed out that it will be their target to win everything possible this season.
He also went on to describe his triumph at the Euros as his ‘greatest success‘ and put it down to the team spirit within the squad, especially after many members of the press thought he wasn’t good enough to be captain pre-tournament.
AC Milan are heading into the tie on relatively poorer domestic form than Real Madrid, as they are currently in 7th place in Serie A while Real Madrid are in 2nd in La Liga.
AC Milan are in a more perilous position in the League stage of the Champions League, as in 25th place they aren’t currently in a position to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
