‘I don’t like it’ – Hansi Flick launches defence of Barcelona star | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week moved to launch a stern defence of an under-fire member of his defensive ranks.

The player in question? Ronald Araújo.

Stopper Araújo has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last week.

Unfortunately for the Uruguayan, though, as much has come for altogether less than positive reasons.

Araújo was singled out as being heavily at fault for Barcelona’s exit from the Champions League, after failing to cover himself in glory en route to a 4-3 defeat at San Siro last week.

So intense was the abuse aimed at the 26-year-old, that he at one point felt it necessary to deactivate the comments on his official Instagram account.

Speaking to the media in his latest pre-match press conference on Wednesday, the name of his defensive star was therefore put to boss Hansi Flick.

And Barca’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to throw his full backing behind Araújo:

“I don’t like what’s happening with Araújo. We have spoken to him. We all made mistakes in Milan… We all fail at some point, no matter the profession. We’ve all been through such situations, it’s key how you handle them. That’s why I want to protect Araújo, he’s not the only one who made a mistake.”
