Gunners face French giants for the first time since 2016 in huge tie at the Emirates
Arsenal take on Paris Saint-Germain tonight in unquestionably the biggest showdown of matchday two in the revamped Champions League.
The Gunners head into a blockbuster clash with the reigning French champions at the Emirates Stadium off the back of two hugely dramatic Premier League meetings with Leicester and Manchester City and a Carabao Cup drubbing of Bolton, while they began the new league phase in Europe’s top club competition with a hard-fought goalless draw against Atalanta earlier this month.
That stalemate with the current Europa League holders in Italy owed much to a sublime double save by goalkeeper David Raya, who returned from injury at the weekend in a huge boost for Arsenal ahead of this game.
Mikel Arteta has a lot of love for PSG after a previous loan spell in France during his early playing days at Barcelona, but will be desperate for his side to pull off a statement victory this evening to show just how far Arsenal have come under his leadership.
PSG have made an unbeaten start to the season as they top Ligue 1 once again, though they needed a last-gasp blunder from former Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga to see off Spanish side Girona in their own Champions League opener.
