After a season in something of a wilderness by Chelsea’s standards, there is renewed optimism at Stamford Bridge that they can mix it with the best in the world.
Enzo Maresca is the closest thing that Chelsea have had to stability for some time, and the Italian manager has demonstrated as much.
During the summer transfer window, Blue Co. have again spent big, with a spend of €280m, allowing Chelsea to bring in Joao Pero, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato and Liam Delap. Perhaps most exciting of all is the arrival of Estevao, who has shown flashes of genius at this early stage, and already looks as if he could become one of their stars alongside Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
However, the Blues have sold well this summer too. Their spending has been almost completely offset by the departures of several young players from their academy, who had been signed in recent years. The likes of Armando Broja, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Noni Madueke mean that Chelsea have a net spend of just €4m at the time of writing.

With the league phase of the Champions League set to begin next month, Chelsea will have the opportunity to assess their standing against the best on the continent once again. That will include four home games and four away games for Chelsea’s first foray into the new format in Europe’s premier competition.
It is no surprise that their games will be very much in demand this season following their Club World Cup showing. To grab your ticket to their European matches, you can head to the official Chelsea website. However often with sell-out matches, fans are forced to look at other alternatives.
This can involve visiting third-party ticket sale websites, such as Viagogo, or more trusted options like LiveFootballTickets.com. They provide a selection of seats ranging from the cheaper to the more expensive options, and with a clear indication of where you will be sitting and your view.

Chelsea will be outsiders for the Premier League, and while it would take an enormous jump in consistency from Maresca’s side, Blues may hold even more hope of success in the Champions League. His side can build off their success in the Conference League, giving them the experience of winning together, and even more so in the Club World Cup.
With the additions of Delap, Pedro and Estevao, Chelsea have an array of options up front for Maresca to call on in different situations. In Palmer, they have a forward that can come up with a match-winning contribution at any point, and the midfield pairing of Caicedo and Fernandez holds up to any in European football. Given the club’s history in the competition and their success over the summer, there will be optimism without expectation in the Champions League – a dangerous combination.
