How Leicester players can unite to avoid relegation | OneFootball

Ruud van Nistelrooy and the Leicester players have reached a critical point in their respective careers. Following Friday's loss to Brentford, everyone in the club needs to bring renewed spirit and fight in the remaining fixtures.

Questions remain if the Dutchman is the right person for the job. However, even if he's only with the Foxes for a short while longer, the nucleus of the team itself is frightening. The overall effort and lack of heart throughout the roster have even led some to speculate that RvN would be given a possible extended run because of how mad of a hand he's been dealt.

Whether true or not, the desire has to stem from the players. Midfielders like Boubakary Soumaré and Wilfred Ndidi aren't offering any resistance to an ever-increasingly exposed back four and keeper. Meanwhile, Wout Faes can be seen barely giving half of a walking pace with the ball near goal. And these are only examples of terrible effort.

Jamie Vardy continues to bring it. But the rest of his teammates fail to match the intensity. Losing and putting on poor displays have become too accepted within the grounds. And this has become especially true at King Power, with Leicester failing to even score a goal in their last six Premier League home games that also ended in losses.

Pride needs to take over. Playing it safe and looking to avoid mistakes have to exit the mind. If an opponent capitalizes on someone making an error through aggressive play, so be it. But the fans need to see proper play and competitiveness.

Relegation reality is starting to set in. But the lads on the pitch need to at least go down swinging. It can be difficult to turnaround a locker room. Embarrassing losses can make it difficult to show up as needed to training. However, matchday preparation and in-game drive need to be demanded by the Leicester staff.

Many are calling for wholesale changes. And going down to the Championship would likely result in this anyway. But for anyone who would then be looking for greener pastures, their chances of getting picked up by a good club drastically go down with each horrific individual showing.

Even if the Leicester EPL time is coming to an end, those involved are playing for their next jobs or the prospect of being able to remain with the East Midlands side. This is a tough, nearly impossible situation to salvage. But it will benefit everyone to, at the very least, ensure that King Power Stadium crowds aren't booing after a second goal, something that is achievable if there's a collective rallying worthy of a side aiming to stay in the top-flight level of play.
