Armstrong admits interest in returning to Derby

Following Derby's 0-0 draw against Stoke City, which kept them in the Championship, Armstrong confirmed his interest in staying at the club and admitted that he enjoyed his time in the East Midlands.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, he said: "Yeah, I'd definitely be interested to come back here. It's a great club, great fan base, staff, I think there's talks to be had and discussions.

"Playing men's football, the experience of it, it's game understanding. It's very hard to grasp it until you do it pretty much but I think it's taught me going into a new changing room, away from home, it's taught me a lot of things."

The benefits of playing senior football for Armstrong

Armstrong himself has said that the move helped him mature, with it being his first experience of consistent senior football, and that he would potentially be interested in going back to Pride Park next season.

Regarding his development, he said to the Derby Telegraph: "I've learned a lot about myself, things I'm good at, my strengths and weaknesses. I think I've matured as a person and hopefully I'm an all-round better player."

It was his first time playing mens football week in, week out, with only three senior Everton appearances to his name before his move to Pride Park.

He spoke about the things that he has learnt from his new experiences.

Armstrong said: "You're playing in front of a crowd, having pressure on you each game. And I think physically, having to play games in a matter of a few days is tough, but I've enjoyed it."

His best moment wearing white came when he scored a huge goal in their 3-2 win against Plymouth Argyle, which proved to be a big win as they avoided the drop by only a singular point.

Since John Eustace's arrival in February, the Rams have been in some very impressive form, with their new manager taking a side that was winless in 10 games before he joined into a real force that managed to win four games in a row between March and April.

With Eustace being seen as a long-term solution for Derby, he will be hoping to hold onto his best players and Armstrong will likely be near the top of his list of players who he would like to have playing for the Rams next season.
