Hojlund set to be offered Manchester United exit route | OneFootball

Rasmus Hojlund is set to be offered an escape route from Manchester United with Atalanta and Lazio among the clubs interested in signing the striker.

Manchester United are keen to sign a forward this summer, an addition that could threaten Hojlund’s future.

The Denmark international managed just four league goals during a disappointing second season at Old Trafford in 2024/25.

Hojlund had recovered from a slow start to show promise in his debut campaign, scoring 16 times in all competitions.

However, his form dipped last season as United struggled for goals in the Premier League. His better performances have come in Europe, where he has netted 11 times in 21 games over the last two seasons.

Lazio and former club Atalanta are keeping a close eye on his situation. The former are under the management of ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who is an admirer of Hojlund’s profile, according to FootMercato.

Atalanta are also weighing up an approach for the 22-year-old. Hojlund impressed during a single-season spell at Atalanta in 2022/23, earning a £72m move to Manchester United.

The Italian side have been armed with funds after the £56m sale of Mateo Retegui to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah. Retegui was the leading scorer in Serie A last season and Atalanta are seeking a replacement.

The Bergamo outfit are also expected to sell Ademola Lookman for a fee in excess of €40m (£34.6m). Inter Milan are working on a deal for the Nigerian.
