Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed the appointment of Henrik Pedersen as their new first-team manager.
The 49-year-old Dane takes charge at Hillsborough with immediate effect, the club announced on Wednesday morning. Pedersen replaces Danny Röhl, whose departure was confirmed on Tuesday - less than two weeks from the start of the new season.
Pedersen brings a wealth of experience to South Yorkshire, having previously managed clubs in Denmark, Germany, and Austria. He was held top jobs at Austrian club SKN St. Pölten and German second-tier side Eintracht Braunschweig.
He has also been part of the Owls' coaching set-up since 2023 as they survived relegation in 2023/24 and secured a mid-table finish last term.
The club said in a statement: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Henrik Pedersen as our new manager. The Dane takes the S6 reins with immediate effect.”
Pedersen's first competitive match in charge will be the Owls’ season opener away at Leicester City on August 10.
