FC Barcelona have hardly been playing at their usual level in their most recent outings. After having initially set some high standards for themselves, Hansi Flick’s team has since managed to drop off quite poorly. In fact, over the last three La Liga games, Barcelona have accumulated only one point.
Following their most recent loss against Las Palmas, it is clear to see that the Catalan giants need to change something. However, at the very least, Hansi Flick’s side can pin the blame of their last defeat on the fact that they did not have their starting defensive midfielder available.
Despite being only 21 years old, Marc Casado has already established himself as a mainstay within Hansi Flick’s system. His technical brilliance, combined with his intensity and ferocity, make him the ideal midfielder for the German coach.
Now, ahead of the upcoming La Liga clash against Mallorca, Hansi Flick has praised Casado’s quality as well as his intelligence on the pitch, as revealed during his official press conference:
“He can read the match and knows exactly where he has to be. He knows what to do with the ball. He’s doing really great.”
This is not the first time that the Barça coach has complimented the young midfielder, and will likely be far from being the last time it happens. A revelation of sorts for the former Bayern Munich coach, Casado’s own time at Barcelona has taken a turn for the better under his new coach so far this season.
While he was suspended for the previous outing, he is now eligible to take part in this upcoming game. Fortunately for Barcelona and Hansi Flick Flick, Casado will likely not be the only player who ends up returning at full strength and being ready to start from the first minute.
