Liverpool will take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday at Anfield.

The Reds are absolutely flying at the moment and have taken a healthy eight-point lead at the top of the table.

Liverpool can extend their lead to 11 points if they win against City, and that will put them in a commanding position in the title race so early in the season.

Ahead of the match, Martin Keown has showered praise on several Liverpool players, including Ryan Gravenberch.

The former Arsenal hero is impressed by the Dutch midfielder this season, and says he is someone City are currently missing.

Keown said to Daily Mail: “Ryan Gravenberch has been so impressive sitting in front of the defence. He is the player City just don’t have right now.

“Gravenberch will be the deep midfielder with Curtis Jones, who is playing the best football of his career, and Alexis Mac Allister, a wonderful talent, playing slightly higher.”

Gravenberch has been simply outstanding for Liverpool

City lost Spanish midfielder Rodri through an ACL injury, and the club have struggled to cope without him.

Gravenberch, who is on £150k-per-week wages, has excelled under Arne Slot this season as he cemented his position as a first-team regular.

During the summer transfer window, Liverpool looked to sign a new number six, and they nearly secured a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

The deal collapsed in the end, and the Reds didn’t sign any new midfielder. Gravenberch was used in the number six role, and the decision turned out to be a masterstroke.

He has been consistent in every single game. The 22-year-old midfielder has made 17 starts in all competitions, and he is undroppable at the moment.

The Dutch midfielder makes around 1.8 tackles and 1.9 interceptions in the Premier League, which shows he is proving to be a safety belt ahead of the defence.

He makes around 61.9 average passes per game with 89.1% accuracy and has hardly put a foot wrong so far.
