Harry Amass completed a deadline day switch from Man United to Sheffield Wednesday
Harry Amass has opened up on his deadline day move on loan to Sheffield Wednesday from Manchester United.
The full-back made the temporary switch in the final hours of the transfer market, with the Owls sealing moves after being granted permission by the EFL.
Amass broke into the Man United first team squad last season, making five appearances in the Premier League, as well as featuring in the Europa League.
However, the 18-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim and will be hoping to gain regular minutes as part of Henrik Pedersen’s side this season.
Amass has expressed his joy at making the move to Sheffield Wednesday, highlighting the size of the club as one of their appealing factors.
He is looking forward to playing in front of the fans at Hillsborough, with the team looking to turn around their poor form from the start of the new season.
“Let’s go @swfcofficial!” wrote Amass, via his personal Instagram account.
“Delighted to join such a big club, can’t wait to play in front of you at Hillsborough, see you soon…”
Amass was one of just two signings made by Sheffield Wednesday during the summer transfer window, with Ethan Horvath also joining on loan, arriving from Cardiff City.
Sheffield Wednesday’s poor league form
Sheffield Wednesday endured a difficult summer, with several key players departing as free agents.
The likes of Djeidi Gassama was also sold for a cut-rate price amid financial trouble that led to players receiving late payments of wages on multiple occasions, along with Danny Rohl also departing as head coach.
This has all translated into a poor start to the new league season, which Amass will be hoping he can help overturn.
Pedersen’s side have earned one point from a possible 12, and the new signing will have to wait until 13 September for a possible debut against Bristol City.
Amass has shown a lot of potential at underage level, and he’s already earned a handful of appearances in the Premier League.
No one player is going to solve everything at Hillsborough, but it is a positive note to end the summer on for the club.
The next step will now be to complete a takeover and get Dejphon Chansiri out of the Yorkshire outfit.
Free agents can also still be registered outside the transfer window, so potentially a new owner could take advantage if given permission by the EFL, provided a deal can be done quickly.
