Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick will be forced to endure a similar conversation with a current member of his squad, as was had with İlkay Gündoğan last summer.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.

Goalkeeper Ter Stegen’s name has of course proven an altogether prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent weeks.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that those behind the scenes at Barcelona are attempting to push the club’s long-time no.1 out.

With Joan García’s arrival now confirmed, Ter Stegen has become somewhat surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.

This is a viewpoint shared by the aforementioned Hansi Flick, who is ready to count on Joan as his new first-choice for next season.

And owing to as much, a difficult conversation awaits Barca’s headmaster.

As per a report from AS, upon Ter Stegen returning to base in Catalunya over the coming weeks, he will sit down for a face-to-face meeting with his manager.

And during as much, Flick will make clear that he no longer depends on his fellow countryman.
