The recent loss to Borussia Dortmund was a rather frustrating one for FC Barcelona. A team that had not lost in 2025 before this fixture, the Catalan giants looked completely outclassed in the recent second leg. Fortunately for Barcelona, the aggregate score was still in their favor and they have now advanced to the semi-final stage.
However, that does not mean that the issues that were on display in this recent loss will not have consequences. Other upcoming opponents will look at that result and smell vulnerabilities within this Barcelona team, and Hansi Flick simply cannot allow that.
The team needs to return to their best possible version, and do it as soon as possible. Over the course of their last two games, La Blaugrana have scored just two goals and both of those goals have come through as own goals scored by the opposition team themselves.
Fortunately, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick has no intention of just sitting back. He will reportedly analyze the mistakes made against Borussia Dortmund with his players in order to ensure that they are not repeated again in this crucial phase of the season.
Reportedly, he also attempted to do it during half-time in the recent loss but his demands for intensity and focus did not seem to have an overly positive effect. Now, he hopes to do it in a much more comprehensive way ahead of the upcoming La Liga game against Celta Vigo.
With the team still in contention for every single title this season, Barcelona cannot afford to slip up now. The players themselves were critical of their display in this recent outing, but that will not be enough for them to simply leave those issues behind.
Instead, they need to show it on the field and ensure that Flick’s orders are followed properly. Barcelona needs to continue winning, and they have to ensure that this loss against Borussia Dortmund is their first and last one of 2025 moving forward.
