Hansi Flick spoke to the media on Friday in a press conference previewing his side’s trip to Pamplona to face Osasuna away from home.
High on the agenda was the fitness status of several players who have spent some time on the sidelines with injuries, and whether they may be getting close to making a return.
One such player is Frenkie de Jong, who has been out of action since April when he came off injured in El Clásico against Real Madrid.
Flick said that de Jong is ‘near being able to help us’ and said that he needs time to recover after having trained quite heavily in recent days.
The German coach also touched upon the fact that the Dutch midfielder will be able to have an impact as soon as he returns and that he will be a good player to have as part of his squad rotation.
Frenkie de Jong has now made over 200 appearances for Barcelona since joining in 2019 and has displayed a fairly consistent level of performance when he has been able to stay fit and keep himself playing.
Barcelona fans will be glad to hear that he is nearing a return despite a lot of bad news in recent times regarding injuries and players being put out of action.
