Over the last few weeks and months, FC Barcelona have recovered most of the players who had to spend some time on the sidelines in the first half of the season.
For instance, midfielders like Frenkie de Jong and Gavi, who continued with their recoveries as the season started, returned to action in November, while other players like Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez, who suffered physical problems after the start of this season, also recovered in the same month.
More recently, Ronald Araujo returned from his injury, and although he is yet to make his return to the pitch, he has still been a part of the team’s squad for the last two games.
The next player who is expected to complete his recovery is the Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who has not been able to play since the very first match of the season against Valencia due to tendinopathy in his left Achilles.

As SPORT has reported, the Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick, provided an update on the defender’s situation as he addressed a press conference ahead of the game against UD Barbastro in the Copa del Rey.
The German tactician was quite clear on whether Christensen would play in this match: “Andreas is doing very well. He has improved in training and is in good shape. But it’s still too early for him to be in Barbastro. We’ll see if we can take him to the Super Cup, but maybe after Arabia.”
Thus, it is clear that Barcelona fans will have to wait longer to see the Dane back in action. Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi have been the starting center-backs for Flick this season, but this Copa tie will be a good opportunity to give these defenders some rest and reintroduce Ronald Araujo onto the pitch.
