FC Barcelona were able to keep up their winning momentum in La Liga ahead of a crucial week as they came out with a dominating 5-1 win over Sevilla.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Blaugrana head coach, Hansi Flick, talked to the media after this game and made some interesting comments.

One of the most notable statements made by the German coach was about one of his superstitions. The journalist asked him how he experiences penalties that are awarded to his team, and whether he watches them, to which he replied:

“I don’t look when they shoot. I did it once, and we scored a goal, so I kept doing it, and now it has become a habit.”

This is certainly an interesting piece of information that makes Hansi Flick, who generally has the persona of a no-nonsense manager, appear more human.

During this media interaction, Flick also shared his satisfaction with the team’s performance despite most of the players having only recently returned from their international duties:

“It was important to return with a victory after the break. We started well in a very complicated week, but we are in a very good moment. Even so, we have to keep improving things.”

“I think we had a very good first half. We gradually found the spaces. After scoring the three goals, you feel better, but we need to keep going and not fall behind because otherwise, you give options to the opponent.”

Lastly, the Barcelona head coach also shared his happiness on Gavi’s return to the pitch:

“The return of Gavi has been fantastic. Moreover, he has been spectacular in how he lifted the stadium. The goal was for him to come back against Sevilla, and that’s how it was. We are all happy; you can feel it. The intensity he showed upon entering was very positive. Sometimes it’s good to be calmer, but that’s not his style.”

The return of players like Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo will definitely be a boost for Flick ahead of such a difficult week for the Blaugranes. Hopefully, Barcelona will be able to get through the difficult matches against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the same fashion as they have been doing up to now in this season, i.e., with convincing victories.
