Hansi Flick informs Barcelona star ‘you will not be playing this season’ | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has sent a stern message the way of out-of-favour goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the situation.

The subject of the impending showdown talks between Flick and Ter Stegen had of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.

This came as the fellow countrymen prepared to return to base with a view to the 2025/26 campaign.

On Friday, the pair finally crossed paths, at which point Flick called Ter Stegen in for a round of one-on-one talks.

And it was during as much that Barca’s headmaster made crystal clear to the 33-year-old his status in his squad.

As per a report from MD:

‘The Barça manager met with the German goalkeeper and informed him, as MD was able to confirm from sources close to the coach, that he will not be playing him this season and that he has two other teammates ahead of him: Joan García, and Wojciech Szczęsny.’

Despite this message, Ter Stegen informed Flick that his plan is to stay put at the Camp Nou to fight for his place.
