Hansi Flick continues to follow in the footsteps of Barcelona legends when it comes to trusting youngsters | OneFootball

One of the greatest assets for FC Barcelona is the existence of the club’s youth teams and youth academy. Almost every year, new youngsters emerge and offer the first team new solutions. However, the right kind of guidance is also needed to help them.

Fortunately, Hansi Flick is the kind of coach who offers exactly that. Since arriving at Barça, the German coach has not shied away from making use of the club’s talented youngsters and has given many of them their debuts as well.

New faces continue to be given opportunities by Hansi Flick

In fact, as highlighted by MARCA, Flick continues to follow in the footsteps of great Barça icons before him, such as Xavi Hernández and Luis Enrique. Although he does not share their upbringing and development within the club, Flick still appears to understand Barça well.

When looking at the numbers, it is easy to see just how much faith Flick has in the club’s youngsters. So far, he has already given debuts to seven La Liga talents, with Jofre Torrents being the latest name to be added to that list.

A recurring legacy at Barcelona

Fortunately, there appear to be many more aspiring youngsters who could find opportunities under the German tactician’s orders. Moreover, even his predecessors were known to often give debuts to the academy’s standout talents, and at almost the same rate as Flick.

Xavi, for instance, gave 15 youngsters their debuts over the course of three seasons. Prior to him, Enrique also gave 15 youngsters their debuts over the same period while he was in charge of the club.

In fact, many of Flick’s most reliable starters today were once players that Xavi took a leap of faith with, including the likes of Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and even Fermin Lopez.
