For all the positivity that Joan Laporta transmitted at the beginning of the summer transfer window about Barcelona’s return to the 1:1 rule, the club are still very distant from making it a reality.
Despite allegedly enjoying a ‘better’ situation economically, the Catalans are struggling to register players for the new season – so much so that the administrators are considering putting up a personal guarantee to secure the objective.
Hansi Flick, needless to say, is the worst affected by the poor management, for he not only has his hands tied with respect to new signings but is unable to even count on all the players in his squad owing to registration issues.
As relayed in a breaking report from Gerard Romero, Flick wants to sign a new centre-back in the final days of the transfer window as he sees the department to be understaffed.

The departure of Inigo Martinez, after all, came as a massive blow to his plans, and the manager is now struggling to find a defensive partnership that has the same chemistry and understanding of the offside trap that Pau Cubarsi and Martinez did.
With Ronald Araujo struggling as a stylistic fit, Andreas Christensen’s injury record and Jules Kounde’s transition to right-back, the coach sees it to be a necessity to have more depth at centre-back.
As to stands, however, Barcelona are unlikely to return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule this summer, for it is difficult until the Spotify Camp Nou is ready. New signings in this transfer window, thus, will be difficult to pull off.
Should Barcelona table a massive sale or secure the investment for the sale of the VIP box rights, there may be room to accommodate one more signing. At the moment, however, it is highly complicated.
