Haaland not in squad as Man City name XI to face Liverpool | OneFootball

Erling Haaland has not been included in the Manchester City squad to face Liverpool in the Premier League this afternoon.

Haaland was an unused substitute for the midweek Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, after jarring his knee during the 4-0 win over Newcastle last weekend. He has not recovered sufficiently to feature this weekend with City opting not to risk their leading scorer at the Etihad.

Omar Marmoush leads the line in Haaland’s absence, in an attack-minded team. The Egyptian international scored his first goals for the Blues with a hat-trick against Newcastle last time out in the league.

There’s a recall for Kevin De Bruyne after his omission at Real Madrid, and the Belgian captains the side. Elsewhere, Abdukodir Khusanov is selected ahead of Ruben Dias in central defence. The 20-year-old partners Nathan Ake at centre-back.

Rico Lewis returns at right-back, while there are starts for Jeremy Doku and Savinho.
