Real Madrid secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Deportiva Minera in the Copa del Rey round of 32, showcasing an impressive performance on all fronts.

Arda Guler, who scored twice in the match, emphasised the team’s collective effort as the key to their success. The Turkish midfielder’s contributions were vital, but he remained modest about his role, focusing instead on the team’s overall performance.

Guler expressed his happiness about being able to help the team with his goals and underlined his desire to keep contributing at his best level.

“I hope we keep winning these games, playing so well and making our fans happy. Today we played a great game on a collective level. I hope we can keep playing like this,” he told Real Madrid TV.

He also acknowledged the strong support of Real Madrid’s fans, who continue to inspire the team regardless of where they play. Guler stressed that the team’s football and victories are a way of giving back to their loyal supporters.

“The Real Madrid fans support us everywhere and today we tried to respond with our football and with victory. We hope they continue to do so because they always support us,” he added.

Fran Garcia reflects

Fran Garcia also reflected on the match, describing the victory as an opportunity for the team to continue building momentum.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining focus, particularly in matches like these, where lower-division opponents often play with great energy and determination.

“It’s an important victory for us. A game to keep growing, adding points and keep doing things the way we were doing at the end of last year,” he noted.

According to Garcia, this level of concentration is essential to avoid surprises in a competition like the Copa del Rey, where underdog teams often deliver unexpected results.

“We have faced it with a lot of concentration.

“The other team faces it with much more enthusiasm and desire, and they have the strength to match it because any team is strong and even more so on the road, where we have already seen some teams surprise us in the Copa del Rey,” he added.

Praise for the debutants

A notable aspect of the match was the starting defensive lineup, which featured four players who came through Real Madrid’s youth academy: Garcia, Raul Asencio, Lorenzo Aguado, and Diego Aguado.

For Garcia, this was a proud moment that demonstrated the importance of the club’s youth system. He pointed out that while reaching the first team is never easy, dedication and a strong mindset can create opportunities for academy players.

“It is very nice for us because we have been trained at the club, you can see that if you do things well and with a good head you can have the opportunity; although it is very complicated, of course. It shows that the youth team is important.”
