Pep Guardiola was recently asked to comment on Barcelona’s entertaining Champions League game against Inter Milan, which ended 3-3 at Montjuic.
In the lead-up to Manchester City’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the former Barcelona coach offered his take on the encounter.
The Catalan notably praised Barcelona and Inter Milan for their performances on the night, highlighting that football can never die as long as such kind of matches exist.
“I was surprised by how good the game was. Thanks to those kinds of games, the stadiums will never be empty and our industry will continue to grow,” Guardiola said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
The Manchester City manager, who had coached Barcelona during their golden age, went on to heap praise on the team’s performances.
“I can only be grateful for both semi-finals, both were incredible. Especially yesterday’s game. If you play like Barcelona, the stadiums will never be empty and we will be able to live off this industry for a long time,” he said.

“Those of us who love Barça are very proud, regardless of the result,” he added.
Although it has been more than a decade since Guardiola left Barcelona, the Catalan’s voice and opinions are still regarded highly within the Barcelona spaces.
Guardiola’s praise of Barcelona’s performance, therefore, could certainly delight many Barcelona fans.
However, the Man City manager was also quick to praise Inter Milan, notably applauding coach Simone Inzaghi.
“I think the Inter fans showed once again that they want the Champions League. Simone Inzaghi is an amazing coach. All four teams are fantastic and deserve to be there,” he concluded.
With the game poised evenly at 3-3, it will be interesting to see whether or not Barcelona can secure a ticket to the final when these two teams meet again on May 6 at the Giuseppe Meazza.
