The victory sees England remain in second in the group, just behind Portugal on goal difference.

Grace Clinton once again started in the middle of the park and impressed against a tough Spanish side.

The youngster played the entire 90 minutes and had 75 touches of the ball.

She was successful in 90% of her passes, connecting with 43 out of 48.

Clinton made one key pass in the match and two out of her three long ball attempts were successful. She also had a shot on target against the world champions.

She was competitive in defence but only won four out of her 13 ground duels and lost her only aerial battle.

Ella Toone also played a significant portion of the game, coming off after 84 minutes. She played in a deeper midfield role than she would usually for United and as a result could not influence the game in the same way from an attacking perspective.

The 25 year old had 43 touches and a passing percentage of 88%.

She had one successful cross and connected with one out of her two long ball attempts.

Toone had a rare quiet night in front of goal as she only attempted one shot that went off target.

She also only completed one ground duel which she lost and attempted no aerial battles.

Toone and Clinton will next be in action for United when they host Leicester City this Sunday lunchtime.
