Juventus might not make further additions this January unless they find a bargain, as director Giuntoli said that they reached their predetermined goals in an interview with Sky (via SOSFanta).
“We had very few players for many months, and the coach wasn’t able to rotate. We had somes issues because of that. They are coming back now, and I think he’ll try to use them in the best possible way, alternating them to manage the energies.”
Giuntoli suggested that Juventus might stand pat.
“We have always said that we didn’t want to sell anybody and bolster the squad with two defenders, which we did, and a striker because Arkadiusz Milik’s return was pushed back. Our window is over at this moment. Then, we’ll pay attention to the opportunities from the technical and economic standpoints.”
Thiago Motta had slightly different remarks.
“We’re attentive to anything that could improve the team. We know what it needs.”
The Bianconeri added Randal Kolo Muani, Renato Veiga, and Alberto Costa in January. Pierre Kalulu subbed off during Wednesday’s debacle versus Benfica due to an apparent thigh injury. Manuel Locatelli adapted to the position as the Chelsea loanee wasn’t eligible to play.
Their declaration came before they parted ways with Danilo, who was over the hill but was still a healthy body who could take care of multiple positions. So, they have lost three men in the back compared to their initial configuration, the other two being the injured Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal. Veiga will help with his versatility, but another center-back surely wouldn’t hurt.
