FC Barcelona will start their pre-season camp on Sunday, July 13, with all players set to report to the club training facilities at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

At the same time, though, the La Liga title holders will look to resolve the futures of some of the players who do not have a place in Hansi Flick’s plans for the future.

Two such players happen to be Oriol Romeu, who is back after a loan stint at Girona, and Pau Victor, who barely featured in the second half of the last season.

Girona could move for Romeu, Victor

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Girona have not ruled out signing Oriol Romeu or Pau Victor from Barcelona this summer, although both options remain complicated.

The Catalans returned to training on Tuesday with a reduced squad, just 16 players – no new signings, and no fresh faces. Some internationals are set to join the team on July 14, but the club is still in need of reinforcements.

As such, it is not ruled out that Girona make moves for both Romeu and Victor, players who have a history with the club.

Romeu has one year left on his contract with Barcelona, and, so far, no official announcement has been made regarding his departure.

The midfielder, who is aware he is not part of Flick’s plans, is awaiting developments while preparing to report for Barça’s pre-season on Sunday.

Victor has also not yet clarified his immediate future. His contract runs until 2029, and he is open to a loan move. Real Betis expressed interest, but no further progress has been made at this stage.

With Barcelona targeting a new winger and Flick planning to use the likes of Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres as alternatives to Robert Lewandowski, Victor’s chances of regular playing time have decreased.

However, if no additional signings are made, the 23-year-old former Girona forward could still end up staying at the club.
