Girona interested in another Barcelona star apart from Eric Garcia – report | OneFootball

As has already been reported over the past few days, Girona are keen on signing Barcelona defender Eric Garcia in the ongoing January transfer window.

The Catalan club want to reunite with the defender who excelled during his time on loan at Montilivi last season, with a €10 million deal (including add-ons) believed to be in the works.

However, it so happens that the former Manchester City star is not the only Barcelona player that Girona are interested in.

Girona also want Ansu Fati

Indeed, according to journalist Miguel Rico, Girona are also interested in a potential January swoop for out-of-favour Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.

The 22-year-old La Masia graduate has endured another frustrating campaign dominated by injuries leading to a lack of minutes.

Despite the doors being opened for a January departure, Ansu had wanted to stay put and fight for his place at Barça, even though chances are likely to come at a premium.

But with the club back to the 1:1 rule now, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is open to new signings this month and as such could be prepared to study any offers that arrive for their players, including Ansu.

What has Ansu’s agent said?

Speaking about Ansu’s future recently, his agent Jorge Mendes had said that everything was up to the club and their plans for the young forward.

“These are questions for Barça. Barça knows better the plans they have and what the coach thinks. In football, everything changes in five minutes. We must wait and see,” said the superagent.

“He has proven that he had the courage to play for Barça and that he has an incredible level. What Ansu needs is confidence and to solve his problems. And when he is at his best, Barça will need him.”

Sevilla have already registered an interest in the Blaugrana No. 10 for this month, although they have their own Fair Play restrictions to contend with.

Now with Girona also showing an interest in the 22-year-old, it will be interesting to see if there is a possibility of a departure.
