Girona determined to secure unlikely deal for Barcelona star – “It’s difficult, but not impossible” | OneFootball

With Champions League qualification sown up, Girona have started to prepare for the upcoming transfer window, which will be crucial to allow head coach Michel Sanchez and sporting director Quique Carcel to address the necessary changes needed to the first team squad.

The idea is for Girona to retain as many of their current squad as possible, although with several loans, it will be tricky. One player whose stay they want to extend is Eric Garcia, who has had a fine campaign for Michel’s side, having been an undisputed starter throughout the season.

As per Diario AS, Girona are determined to re-sign Garcia from Barcelona, although they recognise that it will be “difficult, but not impossible”. Xavi Hernandez has already stated that he wants the 23-year-old defender in his squad for next season, although his doubts over his future, a deal could end up being done.

Garcia is very happy at Girona, and he’d certainly be open to staying. However, it will depend on whether Barcelona make him available during the transfer window – at this stage, there’s been no indication of this being the case.
