Girona sporting director Quique Cárcel has confirmed that the club are hopeful of bringing in Barcelona star Eric García before the month is out.
The name of versatile defender Eric has of course proven itself a prominent one in the headlines throughout the January transfer window.
This comes amid the understanding that, owing to the fierce competition in both defence and midfield in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad, the Spanish international could be on the move, for the right price.
Tipped as the clear frontrunners to strike a deal with their counterparts at the Camp Nou for several weeks now have been the aforementioned Girona.
Speaking during an interview with DAZN ahead of the club’s La Liga meeting with Sevilla on Saturday, Blanquivermells director Quique Cárcel was therefore drawn on his side’s alleged pursuit of Eric.
And Cárcel was not shy in admitting that:
“Our intention is to try to bring Eric García in, but we depend on Barça setting conditions that are realistic for us so that we can do it.”
