South African winger-cum-wingback Gift Links continued his rich vein of fine form with yet another impressive performance for Aarhus GF in the Danish Superliga. The player walked away with the man of the match accolade.
AGF made it three wins in a row as Links provided an assist to Patrick Mortensen in a 1-0 win over Vejle Boldklub. The Aarhus-based outfit started the season with a three-game winless streak, comprising two draws and one defeat.
Links’ team moved up to fourth place on the Superliga standings, two points behind log leaders and defending champions Copenhagen, who have accumulated 13 points from six matches played in the Danish topflight this season.
Meanwhile, with his latest exploits, the former Cape Town City man has now taken his tally to two goals and as many assists as he featured in all the league outings as a starter in the left wingback position.
Links, who joined AGF on a deal worth in the region of € 800, 000 (R16 Million) from the Cape club in September 2019, was named in the Superliga team of the week following his eye-catching display against OB last week.
The 26-year-old recently penned a new four-year deal that will keep him in Denmark until June 2029. Overall, he has scored 15 goals and provided 19 assists in 176 games for the club. Interestingly, Links was named in the 2023/24 Superliga team of the season.
He will be keen to maintain his red-hot form in a bid to play himself back into the South African national team, with the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, provided Bafana Bafana book their spot, on the horizon.
