Manchester United fans woke up to the news that Andre Onana would miss pre-season due to a hamstring injury. As a result, Ruben Amorim could be forced to dip into the market with Gianluigi Donnarumma once again on the club’s radar.

The head coach was certainly not too pleased with the Cameroonian’s displays last season, with the current No.1 committing several high-profile errors.

INEOS have tried to offload him, offering his services to Saudi Pro League sides, but so far no team has submitted a concrete proposal.

There is interest from the SPL as well as from AS Monaco, but with this injury, an exit is unlikely to materialise.

Goalkeeping addition needed

Amorim was reportedly prioritising improving the team’s attack, but with backup keeper Altay Bayindir looking far from secure between the sticks last season, he could be forced to take action.

A low-cost option would be John Victor of Botafogo, but the Red Devils have the option of landing a blockbuster name in the Paris Saint-Germain shot-stopper.

As revealed by L’Equipe, the Italian is yet to agree a new deal with the Champions League winners with his current deal expiring next summer.

He has demanded that PSG at least match his current salary, with the goalie earning €244,808 gross per week excluding bonuses (via capology).

Gianluigi Donnarumma on the move?

But the Ligue 1 champions have instead proposed an arrangement in which a third of his wages will be calculated on the basis of games played, in a bid to add competitiveness among the goalkeeping union at the club.

Gianluigi Donnarumma wants to stay in Paris, but whether he agrees to such a proposal only time will tell. He will take the final call once the Club World Cup ends.

Whether INEOS try and swoop for the Italy international to take advantage of the situation remains to be seen. Even though he only has a year left, PSG are likely to demand a premium.

Other options on United’s radar include Emiliano Martinez, Marco Carnesecchi and Senne Lammens. Hopefully, the club bring in a new keeper before the window closes.
