It has been more than a week since Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe in La Liga at Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
The game left a bitter taste for the Blaugrana as they felt they were denied a clear-cut penalty by the referee for a late foul on Jules Kounde by Getafe’s Christantus Uche.
In fact, Barcelona president Joan Laporta called the decision a ‘scandal’ last week before the team’s UEFA Champions League clash against Benfica.
Laporta once again voiced his frustration about the incident soon after while manager Hansi Flick also aired his displeasure about not being awarded a penalty.
Now, Getafe president Angel Torres has hit back at Barcelona, stating that the Catalans only complain when they lose.

“What the big clubs should do to set an example is not disrespect the smaller ones. In the build-up to Barcelona’s goal, Soria was fouled, but we didn’t complain,” Torres said in an interview with DAZN (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
“They only complain when they lose,” he added.
The non-penalty decision was a crucial one as it meant that the match ended in a draw, allowing Real Madrid to open up a seven-point lead over Barcelona at the top of the table.
Since the draw against Getafe, the Blaugrana have registered back-to-back high-scoring wins, first defeating Benfica 5-4 in the UEFA Champions League before hammering Valencia 7-1 in La Liga.
It will be interesting to see if there is any response from the Barcelona camp to what Torres said in the coming days.
