Get Jurgen Klopp Back – Liverpool Legend Says Reds ‘Frightened’ | OneFootball

Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan believes the Reds are ‘frightened’ of winning the Premier League title and thinks Jurgen Klopp’s calming nature would help.

The Reds are now eleven points clear at the top of the table after they were beaten away at Fulham on Sunday.

While Arsenal have looked incapable of really putting pressure on Liverpool and dropped points themselves against Everton on Saturday, there are nerves creeping in at Anfield.

Arne Slot’s side have had a spell of lacklustre form which resulted in a loss in the EFL Cup final and an exit from the Champions League.

They were poor at Craven Cottage and have seven more games left in which to wrap up the Premier League title.

Reds legend Whelan thinks that the side are frightened because they are on the brink of winning the title and do not want to make any mistakes.

He joked that what is needed is for Klopp to come back and to calm the Liverpool players down, with the German experienced in leading the Reds over the line to silverware.

Whelan said post match on LFC TV (8:10): “I’m thinking they are just a little bit frightened at the minute.

“They are frightened of winning the league and how they are going to get there.

“They are making mistakes because they are thinking ‘I can’t do this, if I give it away they are going to go at us and they might score’.

“They are up tight, completely up tight, because a few of them have not been through this. Yes, they won it when Covid was about, but now crowds are on their backs, crowds are with them. I don’t think their minds are right.

“There’s just too much going on for them and they need to just calm down a little bit. Get Jurgen Klopp back and go ‘calm down a little bit and let’s just see this out’.

“But they have got to see this out soon.”

Liverpool next return to the comforts of Anfield where West Ham United are the visitors, before they then head to face strugglers Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
