Germany and Portugal meet at the Allianz Arena in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals tonight.
The Germans have home advantage as the quest continues to win the tournament for the first time, with either Spain or France awaiting in the final. Germany are into the Nations League finals for the first time and bidding to continue a strong recent record against Portugal. Julian Nagelsmann’s side have won their last five meetings with tonight’s opponents.
Portugal were the inaugural winners of the Nations League in 2019 and seeking a second triumph. Roberto Martinez’s side disappointed at Euro 2024 last summer and will want to atone for that early exit this summer.
Joshua Kimmich is set to make his 100th appearance for the national team tonight and will captain the hosts in Munich.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is expected to return in goal, following nine months out injured.
Germany remain without key figures in Jamal Musiala and Antonio Rudiger, while Nico Schlotterbeck and the recently-returned Kai Havertz are other high-profile absentees. In terms of new faces, there are first call-ups for Hoffenheim teenager Tom Bischof and Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade. The latter was the leading scorer in the DFB-Pokal this season as Stuttgart won the trophy.
Germany predicted XI: Ter Stegen; Kimmich, Tah, Anton, Mittelstadt; Gross, Goretzka; Gnabry, Wirtz, Sane; Undav.
